![]() I got my Electronic Parking Brake module fixed last week. The only fault I am getting is on the dashboard saying ' check parking brake and previously ' release parking brake'.ĭo you know if the VIN can be written/programmed into a used one, or is there more programming than that needed when replacing with used module? ![]() The brakes work perfect, including the automatic handbrake. ![]() I am hoping the can bus fault is also coming from the faulty parking brake module, otherwise I don't think it is worth fixing. They basically said it would cost too much to fix. When I bought it to Toyota for a service, they said I have 2 faults, parking brake module and can bus fault. It is definitely work checking the pistons again Toyota said they checked the braking and said everything was closing and opening as should be with the brakes, but there could be an inexperienced mechanic looking at the brakes. It was intermittent for a few months and progressively got worse. You could have a point there with the brake pads. with trial an error and help from the guy i bought mine with it seems to work better on a windows 7 32 bit system where did you get your toyota techstream at or is it the same as mine and works great. I bought my toyota tech stream and put it on a extrenam ssd i bought for that purpose as the guy on eBay that sold me the toyota techstream only gave me 1 code for it and its linked to my ssd on there so if i need to put a code onto it to get it to work i might have to try buy one for it on eBay again. Techstream and any serious deep level diagnostics need to be used carefully! I used Techstream to clear the error messages after fixing the physical problems.Īvetoy (jj) is correct stating what fault codes came up and was the rest of the parking brakes checked? Every fault I had was caused by mechanic or user error! All the faults were fixed by replacing and correctly installing brake pads/disc (the piston notches were not properly aligned, causing the brake pads to be pressed unevenly resulting in uneven inner pad wear and jamming), gear position sensor not securely connected after clutch replacement and using the wrong diagnostic tool to reset brakes after servicing (not necessary). I drive a 2009 ('58 plate) Valvematic Tourer, first registered January 2009. I cannot answer the original posters question, but from experience most parking brake faults are caused by external issues, not the unit itself!
